Course Offering

Language Studies Indonesia has established an international reputation for its six Bahasa Indonesia courses designed for in-home study. From Absolute Beginner to Advanced, LSI’s Indonesian language study programmes serve every level of competency.

NEW ARRIVALS quickly realise the need for at least basic conversational Bahasa Indonesia study. LSI’s Beginner Courses introduce the key vocabulary and structures necessary for everyday communication, both at home and in the workplace.

LONG-TERM RESIDENTS often feel that their Bahasa Indonesia language studies have reached a plateau and that they need to improve their ability to communicate on a wider range of subjects. LSI’s Intermediate and Advanced Courses assist them in meeting their needs.

BUSINESS PEOPLE, EDUCATORS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS frequently require LSI’s Bahasa Indonesia instructors to develop customised Bahasa Indonesia language instruction to help them function effectively within their specific industries. LSI develops personal Indonesian study programmes to assist such individuals, and calls these programmes Indonesian for Specific Purposes.

Course Costs

Tuition fees for each of LSI’s six courses are identical.

LSI welcomes individuals, couples, families and collegial groups to partake in its course offerings, and tuition fees are contingent on the number of clients participating in a given course. To ensure effectiveness, however, groups should not exceed four persons (although exceptions are occasionally made for families and organisations).

Successful completion of each level generally requires 13 to 15 two-hour sessions (26 to 30 hours). Course durations, however, depend ultimately on client progress, and total course fees vary accordingly. LSI methodology stresses “practice until mastery is achieved,” not “rushing instruction” when previously introduced material has not been mastered. With this in mind, note that the projected course fees below are based on courses terminating at the end of 13 sessions. Please be prepared for some upward adjustment to these projections should one or two additional sessions be required to successfully complete a given course.

 Establishing your Weekly Lesson Schedule

LSI clients design their own regular weekly lesson schedules in accordance with their lifestyles, studying as extensively or intensely as they wish - from two sessions per week to two sessions per day.

Lessons are scheduled Monday to Friday between 9 am and 9 pm; Saturday between 9 am and 6 pm. Within these parameters, clients may arrange their regular sessions at flexible times throughout the week (e.g. every Tuesday from 4 to 6 pm and every Thursday from 6 to 8 pm).

In establishing their regular weekly lesson schedules, clients choose from the following tutorial slots:

To ensure regular progress, LSI recommends that clients’ Bahasa Indonesia language training involve a minimum of two or three sessions per week, spaced throughout the week.

For those with the availability for more intensive study, LSI strongly suggests five sessions per week, Monday through Friday (particularly for Beginners). With greater immersion in the language, clients are assured the satisfaction of reaching their goals rapidly, and generally develop greater confidence and competence in using Bahasa Indonesia in their daily lives.

For small groups or families who are unable to coordinate their schedules during the work/school week, LSI suggests two in-home training sessions each Saturday, spaced an hour apart.

Recommendations aside, LSI works with all clients to create personalised Indonesian training programmes to suit their particular scheduling needs.
